Q: What are the levels / belts of Krav Maga?
A: There are 5 Levels before Black Belt
- LEVEL 1 (Yellow Belt) – Basic Combatives; Choke Defenses. Students who train 2-3 classes per week can expect to test for their Yellow Belt within 4-6 months.
- LEVEL 2 (Orange Belt) – Intermediate Combatives; Bearhugs; Introduction to Ground Fighting; Basic Fighting. Level 2 students who train 2-3 classes per week can expect to test for their Orange Belt within 4-6 months.
- LEVEL 3 (Green Belt) – Intermediate Combatives; Intermediate Ground Fighting; Intermediate Fighting. Level 3 students that train 2-3 classes per week can expect to test for their Green Belt within 9-12 months.
- LEVEL 4 (Blue Belt) – Advanced Combatives; Gun Defenses; Stick Defenses; Advanced Fighting Skills; Advanced Ground Fighting. Level 4 students who train 2-3 classes per week can expect to test for their Blue Belt in approximately 12 months.
- LEVEL 5 (Brown belt) – Advanced Combatives; Knife Defenses; Long Gun (rifle) Defenses; Advanced Ground Fighting. Level 5 students who train 2-3 classes per week can expect to test for their Brown Belt in approximately 12 months.
Q: What are the age limits?
A: Ages 16 and up. Consideration may be made for students 13-15 who train with their parent or legal guardian.
Q: What is F.I.S.T.?
A: F.I.S.T (Fitness Intense Skills Training). This class features a combination of strength training, dynamic flexibility, and effective pad striking. The focus of this class is to emphasize muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. Students will learn correct body alignment for striking to maximize efficiency, while refining Krav Maga technique through repetition, drills, and punch-kick combinations on the various pads. F.I.S.T is open to students of all levels and to the general public. Krav Pro Boxing gloves are required.
